Support and hope within our Alcoholics Anonymous support group

On the journey to recovery, the path is rarely a straight line. It is dotted with hills and valleys, triumphs and failures. Recognizing the challenge that alcoholism poses not only to individuals, but also to families and communities, we are launching a new support group that aims to cultivate healing, stimulate resilience, and restore lives.

Understanding Alcoholism

Alcoholism, or chronic alcohol abuse, is a condition characterized by a reduced ability to stop or control alcohol consumption despite adverse social, professional, or health consequences. It is a chronic, progressive disease that can cause significant mental and physical health problems. These include liver disease, cardiovascular problems, mental disorders, and an increased risk of cancer. The psychological impact is equally significant, often affecting an individual’s ability to maintain stable relationships, fulfill work commitments, and effectively manage daily responsibilities.

Furthermore, alcoholism does not only affect the consumer, but also has a powerful impact on families and communities, generating problems such as domestic violence, financial problems, and widespread social harm.

Why a support group?

Support groups have long been essential to the recovery process, providing a platform for sharing experiences and mutual encouragement. They harness the power of collective experience, empathy, and understanding—essential elements that often make the difference between stumbling and thriving on the road to recovery.

The support group is designed to provide:

Community. You are not alone on this journey. Our group is a sanctuary where individuals can come together, share their stories, and know that they are part of a community that understands and supports them without judgment.

Support. At each meeting, we provide a structured yet compassionate environment where members can explore their struggles with alcohol, discuss their fears and accomplishments, and receive support from those who truly understand the battle against addiction.

Education. From understanding the roots of addiction to learning practical coping strategies, sessions are geared toward empowering members with knowledge and tools to aid in the recovery process.

Hope. By witnessing and celebrating each other’s successes, group members see real examples of recovery and renewal. Hope is the vital center of motivation, and our group nurtures this vital resource.

What do you get if you participate?

Understanding and managing appetite. You learn strategies to manage your appetite and triggers in a supportive setting, reducing the likelihood of relapse.

Improved relationships. Guided by those who understand the complexities of this process, you will learn how to repair and rebuild relationships damaged by the impact of alcoholism.

Healthier coping mechanisms. Replace unhealthy behaviors with healthy ones by learning from those who have walked the same path and can share practical advice.

Better understanding and self-awareness. We address the psychological and emotional aspects of alcoholism, increasing self-awareness and promoting long-term abstinence.
